FACT Scholars: Vocational Track

As demand for skilled workers continues to grow, so too does the number and variety of training programs that provide former foster youth with opportunities to earn industry-recognized credentials and pursue well-paying careers. 

Foster Angels of Central Texas (FACT) offers a scholarship program for qualified students attending an accredited public or private institution to receive financial assistance to support expenses such as tuition, housing, food, books, transportation, etc. Each FACT Scholar will receive mentorship and regular check-ins, providing both accountability and encouragement.

Pathways to a trade certification establish long-term stability.

The FACT Scholarship for Vocational & Trade programs has an award range of up to $12,000. The exact amount is determined based on the applicant's individual situation, their chosen program, and financial need.

Vocational training programs can offer a short-term and affordable training option to young adults with foster care experience looking to join the skilled workforce.

Application Requirements:

  • Reside in Texas and be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary education program in Texas. Must be planning to be enrolled at a minimum of part-time for your chosen program.

    • Post-secondary education programs for this track are defined as any accredited vocational or trade schools.

  • Applicants must be a current/former youth who experienced foster care.

  • Applicants must be 26 years of age or younger at the time of application.

  • Applicants must send proof of their FAFSA/TAFSA application (if eligible).

  • Applications specifically for vocational/training programs can be submitted at any time. No incomplete applications will be considered. While this scholarship has rolling admissions throughout the year, submitting this application does not guarantee you will receive scholarship funds.

    We strongly encourage you to submit 1-2 letters of recommendation, but it is not required. If you have any questions regarding the application, please reach out to scholarship@fosterangelsctx.org.
